24" x 30" Acrylic on Canvas

After retiring from a 27-year corporate career, I found myself standing at the edge of a new kind of freedom—stripped of titles, schedules, and expectations, and returning to the most essential question: Who am I?

This painting arrived almost unexpectedly. I chose cobalt blue, and from there, I simply let go. There was no plan, no destination, no need to control the outcome. My brush moved freely across the canvas, guided by instinct rather than intention.

With each uninhibited stroke, I felt myself returning to something elemental—a place of play, curiosity, and possibility. In that moment, I was not trying to become anything. I was simply allowing myself to be.

This abstract work became an expression of that freedom: a rediscovery of self, a release from restraint, and the joy of beginning again.

Landscape Series (4), 2022
Sale Price: $600.00 Original Price: $1,400.00

12” x 12”, Oil on Canvas: “From Here to There,” “Somewhere Somehow” “Once Again,,” “Around the Block”

In 2021, I left Los Angeles and arrived in Washington in the midst of a world still shaped by the pandemic. Surrounded by the lush beauty of the Pacific Northwest, I found myself mesmerized by a landscape so different from the one I had known.

Nature became both my refuge and my muse.

By 2022, I could hardly put down my brush. Whenever I could steal time away from my full-time career, I painted—sometimes four to six hours a day. What began as an awakening soon became an urgency: a need to translate the beauty, stillness, and wonder around me onto the canvas.

Painting became the place where I felt most alive, most present, and most connected—to the world around me and to a part of myself that had been waiting to emerge.

Alive and Well - 24" x 30"
Sale Price: $850.00 Original Price: $1,200.00

Oil on Canvas

During the COVID era, when so much of the world felt disconnected, my local church continued to gather in person. After playing with the praise team during worship one Sunday, a fellow church member surprised me with a bouquet of flowers from her own garden.

Alive and Well was inspired by that feeling—a reminder that even during a time of isolation and uncertainty, life, beauty, and human connection were still very much alive.

Out of Cage

I am finally free—yet the world out there is so big and complex.

After 27 years in the structure of corporate life, I stepped out of the cage I once knew so well. The path ahead is wide open and full of possibility, and with that freedom comes both excitement and uncertainty.

Who am I?

Stripped of titles, roles, and routines, I am learning to meet myself beyond achievement and identity.

Where do I go from here?

This painting captures that in-between space—bold with color, yet layered with questions. The bird represents me: curious, cautious, and ready to explore. The world beyond is vast, and I am still discovering the direction of my own flight.

What began as a simple arrangement of tulips became, to me, a quiet reflection on change, individuality, and the different places we find ourselves in.Three forms, three moments—one reaching, one lingering, one letting go. Mixed Media on Canvas

Inspired by the my transition into retirement, this painting reflects the freedom, uncertainty, and excitement of stepping into a new chapter of life. After years of a structured corporate career, retirement opened a space to explore creativity more freely—to follow unexpected ideas, take risks, and simply see where the journey leads.

Note at the bottom, a butterfly—incorporating the iconic Gucci motif—becomes a playful symbol of transformation, freedom, and reinvention.

This work is about more than nature. It is about becoming, evolving, and embracing the freedom to create a life that feels entirely your own.

A photograph a friend posted on Instagram instantly transported me to a golf course in Korea. I could almost smell the freshly cut grass and feel the openness of the landscape. I knew immediately that I had to paint it. For the first time, I set aside my usual oils and turned to acrylic, embracing its clean, crisp quality to capture the freshness and simplicity of the scene. Credit: @seung_lee2
